Scoff

Scoff is a verb and it means to laugh at and talk about someone or something in a way that shows disapproval and a lack of respect. I found this meaning in Merriam-Webster's Learners Dictionary. In Portuguese the translation of scoff might be "zombar" ou "debochar".

Here are some pictures related with scoff . They help me to memorize scoff's meaning.

As you can see in this article, even John Lennon had scoffed at something. http://showbizandstyle.inquirer.net/breakingnews/breakingnews/view/20101209-307941/Lennon-scoffed-at-dead-heroesinterview

When I was a kid, I probably scoffed at some friend ou something. You know... Children might be cruel sometimes... And what about you? Have you ever scoffed at someone or something?
